There’s a reason so few athletes fail to maximize theIr potential.
First things first, younger athletes (pre-teens) need time to develop through a balance of competition, fun, and skills development. They need exposure to experiences that help them fall in love with a sport as they physically mature. These players are best served through clinics, camps, and games that help them establish a strong foundation for potentially the hard work that lies ahead.
Teenage to college level players need guidance and structure. No matter the level of talent - their development is a result of the plan in place; their consistency in execution and ability to make adjustments as needed. This isn’t an overnight endeavor - it requires a “stay the course/trust the process mentality”.
At the PDL our advisory staff is not only here to help you formulate a goal oriented plan, they are invested in helping you meet each metric month to month. We are results oriented. Equally as important, the training environment and the advanced athletes around you keep you accountable, help motivate and push you to be persistent. A Washingtonian native Coach Joey developed as part of the Nationally ranked St. John’s Cadets Baseball program and went on to be a 4 year starter at American University, followed by 3 years in Independent Ball. As the founder of the PDL Joey brings a wealth of knowledge in youth player development under USA Baseball guidance. While elite infield work is his specialty, his passion lies in building the foundation for complete player development.
Coach Anthony has an extensive background in hitting instruction and player development. Anthony brings a wealth of knowledge as a lead hitting instructor in the state of Maryland. His multi-faceted approach focuses on mental approach and building elite swing mechanics from the ground up. If you’re looking to barrel up balls - Anthony is your guy!
Coach Hector Nelo heads up Pitching and Arm Care at the Lab. Drafted in 2007 by the Texas Rangers, Coach Hector stayed on staff with the organization he began his professional career with to help develop their pitching staff including the 2023 World Series Champions. With this level of success he was recruited by the Reds in 2024 to develop their young staff. As a Certified Driveline instructor, coach Hector specializes in biomechanics, mobility, and arm care.
Coach Luis is always at the Lab to lend a hand and guide player Development. He specializes in Catching and Hitting instruction. Drafted in 2007 by the San Diego Padres - Coach Luis made his MLB debut behind the plate with the San Diego Padres. He has extensive experience in player development including remote instruction and developing a number of Division 1 and professional players. Specific to catching - nobody in the state of Maryland has more experience and pedigree than Coach Luis.

Coach Julie Runs Next Level Softball Training of Maryland. She focuses on instruction of all age groups. Her complete player development philosophy is why so many current and former players have sought out her instruction. From individual lessons to group instruction Coach Julie is the one to see for all of your softball development needs.
Coach Cline is responsible for providing our athletes with proper evaluation and direction. Walt specializes in Athlete development, movement biomechanics, speed, strength and conditioning, recovery, and individual player program design.
